How long does an osteopathy consultation last?

Osteopathy consultations generally last 40 minutes, but can be adjusted according to your needs, ranging from 20 minutes to 1 hour if necessary.

Do I need to see my doctor before seeing an osteopath?

No, this is not necessary. In Belgium, osteopathy is a primary care option. This means that you do not need a prescription to see an osteopath.

How much does an osteopathy consultation cost? And why is it so expensive?

My osteopathy consultations are 60 euros in Auderghem and Uccle, and 65 euros in Mons/Casteau.

The difference in rates between the two regions is due to the different rents of the places where I work.

To be completely transparent with you, this price includes: my level of study, my additional training, rent and charges for the premises, equipment, software (appointments and patients), contributions and taxes.

This represents approximately 70% of the asking price.

What should I wear for an osteopathy consultation?

It is recommended to wear suitable underwear (boxers rather than loose briefs, for example). Otherwise, wear tight-fitting clothing to facilitate consultation.

Can I play sports after an osteopathy consultation?

There are no contraindications to exercising after an osteopathic consultation. Just listen to your body and don't force yourself if pain returns. If you don't normally exercise, don't go running a marathon right after a consultation.

Is osteopathy reimbursed by my mutual insurance company?

Osteopathy is partially reimbursed by a certain amount set by your mutual insurance company.

Some supplementary outpatient insurance policies can reimburse 60 to 80% of the remaining amount.
