My practice in Osteopathy
"Osteopathy is a science, an art and a philosophy."
- Andrew Taylor Still
Founded by Andrew Taylor Still in 1874, osteopathy has evolved considerably thanks to scientific advances.
Through my teaching at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, I draw on the latest research to offer you personalized care. My approach, based on structural manual techniques, aims to restore joint and tissue mobility. This will allow you to reduce your pain and allow you to regain optimal function.
I combine several techniques during my consultations: muscular techniques (pressure on tension points, counterstrain, fasciatherapy, myotensive and myodetensive), mobility techniques, neuro-dynamic techniques and HVBA manipulative techniques (the "crack" techniques).
Collaboration with other healthcare professionals will sometimes be essential to provide you with comprehensive and appropriate care.
The course of a session:
Medical history or interview: At the beginning of the session, I will ask you questions about your medical history and the reasons for your consultation. This information will allow me to understand the origin of your pain and adapt my manual techniques. If I detect a medical emergency, I will without hesitation refer you to the most qualified healthcare professional to take care of you.
Testing : Through this, I will be able to make a diagnostic hypothesis allowing me to direct my treatment with a view to reducing or eliminating your pain.
Treatment: Exclusively manual, the treatment is individual and personalized according to our diagnostic hypothesis. All while being as "painless" as possible. Each technique must be performed in a manner agreed upon by both parties.
Advice: I generally give exercises and other advice that will help enhance our session and make you as independent as possible once you return home.
The number of sessions required varies depending on your situation. Generally, 1 to 3 sessions are sufficient. If no progress is observed, other therapeutic approaches may be considered in addition to or as an alternative to osteopathy.
If your problem is purely medical, I will refer you to the appropriate healthcare professional.
